Dr. Marika Constantaras, DVM, MS

Diplomate American Veterinary Dental College

Dr. Marika Constantaras grew up in Frankfurt, Germany, Rockville, Maryland and Tokyo, Japan.  She left Tokyo after high school to attend the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, and stayed to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and Masters of Science from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Constantaras practiced for five years in a large private general practice in Chicago, and then completed a three-year residency in dentistry and oral surgery at Fox Valley Veterinary Dentistry and Surgery.  She became a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College in 2014.

In 2015, Dr. Constantaras founded Ohana Veterinary Dentistry and joined forces with Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital to provide specialty dentistry services to pets in Hawaii.  Her parents and sister moved to Oahu in 1998 and Marika, along with her husband and 17-month old daughter, are excited to now also call Hawaii home.

Dr. Constantaras decided to specialize in dentistry because treatment of oral pain has an enormous impact on a pet’s health and quality of life.  She strives for a holistic approach to oral health and animal care that incorporates the highest standards of treatment with global innovation in the field of veterinary medicine.  Core to her investment in this growing field is educating veterinarians on the recognition and treatment of dental disease, whether through formal lectures, wet labs, or in-hospital training.  The profession has made tremendous progress in raising the standard of dental care and Dr. Constantaras is committed to sharing her expertise with her veterinary colleagues.  She looks forward to developing strong relationships with veterinarians as well as with clients and their four-legged furry family members.
